Vision
We have a vision to see a generation of youth deeply rooted in Christ, loving, following, and sharing Jesus.
Our History
StandOUT began in 2021 as an afterschool peer-mentorship program launched by classroom teacher Andrea Gonzales. It was designed to help teens grow in decision-making through goal-setting, life skills, and accountability among peers. What started with just a handful of students soon expanded beyond the classroom, becoming a citywide nonprofit with adult mentors and weekly gatherings.
In 2024, StandOUT partnered with Baylor College of Medicine to study the impact of peer mentorship on teen mental health. The findings affirmed what we believed from the beginning—when teens are given real responsibility and support from their peers, their mental health improves, their confidence grows, and their leadership potential is unlocked.
Today, StandOUT is centered on Jesus, rooted in real relationships, and built for the next generation. While adult mentors walk closely with youth through life-on-life discipleship, we also create space for teens who are growing in their faith to lead, share their faith, influence peers, and make disciples.
